Raise A Glass to our Custom-Blended House Wine, TerraMare

October 2, 2014 -

Awesome Facebook Chat yesterday Amicis! I really enjoyed talking to all of you, and was happy to find out that many of you are interested in where our house wine comes from. Our chefs source wines from all over Italy in search of the perfect complement to the many different flavors at Carrabba’s.

Our house wine is a custom blend called TerraMare, and it is from the Abruzzo Region of Italy along the Adriatic Coast. Abruzzo has a rich landscape where the snow-capped Apennine Mountains and the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea meet.  This is an enchanted place where the brilliant glow of the sun, mountain currents and sea breezes join together to create an ideal climate for thriving vineyards. On these steep mountain slopes, you’ll find the perfect soil to grow the Montepulciano and Trebbiano grapes that go into our wines.

The TerraMare comes in both red and white or rosso and bianco.

The Bianco is straw yellow with delicate green tints in color. The aroma is fresh and pleasant with lingering citrus notes, and the taste is full, crisp, dry and harmonious. The Bianco pairs well with Cozze in Bianco and Spiedino di Mare.

The Rosso is lush ruby with hints of purple in color. The aroma is pleasant, lingering fruit, and the taste is dry, well-balanced and delightfully tannic with concentrated berry flavors. The Rosso pairs excellent with our Prosciutto-Wrapped Pork Tenderloin, Tag Pic Pac and Pollo Sorrento.

Winemaking in the Abruzzo region has been a valued tradition for generations. We hope that every sip of this delicious wine will transport you to a magical place where the mountains meet the sea. Salute!
